DA Approved!

The Board of Directors are pleased to advise the DA for a Club Refurbishment was approved by the City of Ryde Council on 213rd October. This refurbishment includes the entire ground floor, façade and first floor.

Features of the façade are an improved entry ramp for disabled access, a visually appealing street presence and a memorial wall. The poppy wall graphic on the façade will provide a constant reminder of the sacrifice of our war heroes. This commemoration continues within the Club where we will continue to have a memorial in the foyer and a memorabilia display on the first floor.

The ground floor refurbishment involves improvements to the foyer layout, installation of a 2nd lift, upgrade to the existing lift and new toilet facilities. Gaming machines will move to the back of the building, with a new café at the front, facing Linsley St, which will also be a means of improving our street presence.

On the first floor, our bistro will remain but will also be revamped. In what is currently the auditorium will become a sports and recreation area with TAB, big screen, snooker and darts all being consolidated into one area. This addresses some operational inefficiencies the Club currently has by operating over three floors and having all sports facilities combined will provide better ambience and synergy.

The second floor does not form part of the DA. The plan is for the Club to complete the ground and first floors initially, consolidate our trading to two floors and free up the second floor for a new facility. When the time comes a feasibility study will be conducted to recommend the best use of this space for the betterment of the Club.

Now that the DA has been approved, we are planning for work to commence on the first stage (ground floor and façade) in early 2019. Stage 2 (first floor) will be completed at a later date. This work will take place concurrently with our Seniors Living development on Western Crescent.

We will be holding an information session to update Members on both the Club refurbishment and Seniors Living projects on Thursday, December 20 at 6pm. Members wishing to attend should click here.
